IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)

What Is IPL?

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy is a non-invasive light-based treatment that gently targets unwanted pigmentation, sun damage, redness, and uneven skin tone. IPL delivers broad-spectrum light deep into the skin, where it is absorbed by pigmented cells and small blood vessels. This stimulates the body’s natural renewal processes, resulting in clearer, more radiant skin.

At Rose MedSpa, IPL is customized for your unique skin concerns — from dark spots and freckles to rosacea-related redness — helping your complexion look healthier, smoother, and more luminous, without disrupting your daily routine.

How Does IPL Work?

IPL uses pulses of broad-spectrum light to target specific skin concerns just beneath the surface. As the light is absorbed:

  • Pigmented areas (like brown spots or sun damage) break down

  • Tiny blood vessels contributing to redness are gently reduced

  • Collagen production is encouraged, leading to improved texture over time

During treatment, you may feel a light snapping sensation. The procedure is comfortable and controlled, with settings carefully adjusted to your skin type and treatment goals.

What Can IPL Treat?

IPL is versatile and effective for a range of common concerns, including:

  • Sun damage & age spots

  • Freckles and hyperpigmentation

  • Facial redness and flushing

  • Broken capillaries

  • Uneven skin tone

  • Rough texture and dullness

Because IPL stimulates natural healing, results improve gradually over a series of sessions, leaving skin brighter and more balanced.

What to Expect During Treatment

Your session begins with a brief consultation to assess your skin and identify treatment areas. A cooling gel is applied to protect the surface of the skin, and a series of light pulses are delivered using the IPL handpiece.

Most treatments take 20–30 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area. Many clients describe the sensation as a series of gentle “light snaps.” Throughout the session, your comfort is prioritized.

Is IPL Painful?

IPL is designed to be gentle and well tolerated. Most clients feel only mild warmth or light snapping during treatment. A cooling gel and advanced technology help ensure comfort throughout the session.

If needed, additional cooling or breaks can be provided to make the experience even more pleasant.

Are There Side Effects?

After IPL, some temporary effects are common and expected, such as:

  • Mild redness

  • Light swelling

  • Flecks of darkened pigment that naturally flake away

These usually subside within a few hours to a couple of days. Rarely, very sensitive skin may take slightly longer to calm. Our team will review your expected response and aftercare so you feel prepared and confident.

What Should I Do After My IPL Treatment?

To support healing and achieve the best results:

  • Avoid prolonged sun exposure and tanning beds

  • Wear broad-spectrum SPF daily

  • Avoid harsh exfoliants for a few days

  • Use gentle skincare products as recommended

Following aftercare guidance helps your skin recover beautifully and extends the longevity of your results.

When Will I See Results?

Some improvement may be visible soon after your first session, but most clients notice the best results after a series of treatments spaced several weeks apart. With each session:

  • Pigmentation gradually fades

  • Redness diminishes

  • Skin tone and texture feel smoother and more balanced

Results can continue to improve for weeks as your skin’s natural renewal process unfolds.
