PRP/PRF

What Are PRP and PRF?

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) and PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) are advanced regenerative treatments that use your body’s own blood components to support natural healing, rejuvenation, and tissue repair.

Both therapies begin with a small blood draw. The blood is processed to concentrate platelets and growth factors that help stimulate collagen production, cellular renewal, and improved skin or scalp health.

At Rose MedSpa, PRP and PRF are selected based on your goals — whether for skin rejuvenation, hair restoration, or enhanced healing — with a focus on natural, long-lasting results.

What Is the Difference Between PRP and PRF?

While PRP and PRF are similar, they differ in how they are processed and how long they remain active in the body.

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)
PRP is created by spinning blood at a higher speed, separating the platelet-rich plasma from other components. It delivers a concentrated burst of growth factors and is commonly used for:

  • Skin rejuvenation

  • Hair restoration

  • Combination treatments (such as microneedling + PRP)

PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin)
PRF is processed more slowly and without additives, allowing it to retain a higher concentration of platelets, white blood cells, and fibrin. This creates a natural scaffold that releases growth factors more gradually over time. PRF is often chosen for:

  • Under-eye rejuvenation

  • Areas requiring longer-lasting support

  • Enhanced tissue repair and collagen stimulation

Your provider will recommend the most appropriate option based on your treatment area and desired outcome.

How Do PRP and PRF Work?

After processing, PRP or PRF is carefully applied or injected into targeted areas. The growth factors stimulate the body’s natural repair response by:

  • Encouraging collagen and elastin production

  • Improving skin texture and tone

  • Supporting hair follicle health

  • Enhancing healing following other treatments

Because both therapies use your own biological material, results develop gradually and appear natural rather than artificial.

What Can PRP and PRF Help With?

PRP and PRF may be used to support:

  • Skin rejuvenation and improved texture

  • Fine lines and early signs of aging

  • Under-eye hollowness (PRF)

  • Hair thinning or hair loss

  • Enhanced recovery after microneedling or laser treatments

These treatments work from within, helping skin and tissue renew naturally over time.

What Happens During the Treatment?

Your appointment begins with a brief consultation and blood draw, similar to routine lab work. Once your PRP or PRF is prepared:

  • The treatment area is cleansed and numbed if needed

  • PRP or PRF is gently injected or applied

  • When combined with microneedling, the solution is applied after micro-channels are created to enhance absorption

Most sessions take 30–60 minutes, depending on the treatment area and whether it’s combined with other procedures.

Is PRP or PRF Painful?

Discomfort is typically minimal. Topical numbing cream is used to ensure comfort, and most clients describe the sensation as mild pressure or light pinching during injections. Our clinicians take a careful, gentle approach throughout the session.

erious side effects are rare. Your provider reviews your medical history beforehand to ensure safety and a positive experience.

Are There Side Effects?

Because PRP and PRF are derived from your own blood, side effects are generally mild and temporary. These may include:

  • Redness

  • Swelling

  • Tenderness at the treatment site

These effects usually resolve within 24–48 hours and are part of the natural healing response.

What Should I Do Before My Appointment?

To prepare for PRP or PRF treatment:

  • Stay well hydrated

  • Avoid alcohol 24 hours before treatment

  • Avoid blood-thinning medications unless otherwise directed by your provider

Your clinician will review your medical history to ensure the treatment is appropriate and safe.

What Should I Do After Treatment?

After your session:

  • Avoid strenuous activity for the rest of the day

  • Keep treated areas clean and protected

  • Use gentle skincare products as recommended

  • Apply sunscreen daily if treating facial areas

Following aftercare instructions helps optimize healing and results.

When Will I See Results?

Results develop gradually as your body responds to the growth factors. Some clients notice early improvements within one to two weeks, with continued enhancement over several weeks.

Because PRF releases growth factors more slowly, results may continue to improve over a longer period compared to PRP.
